Heron Island, on the Great Barrier Reef (video)

Last Updated on November 5, 2019 by PowersToTravel

Near the end of September 2019 we visited Heron Island, on the Great Barrier Reef, a part of our three week Queensland tour.

I hope you enjoy the show and feel as if you are there…

Heron Island

What is not apparent in the video, since I had no desire to immortalize them, are the apparent hundreds of school children who descended on the island with us. It was Queensland school holidays. We didn’t realize what an impact this would have on our vacation. No “a la carte” dinners – a family-mobbed buffet only, snorkel boats full to the brim of 10-year-olds and their parents (not so bad during the boat trip, but once in the water! oh, my it was tough to avoid getting kicked in the head!) We didn’t go for the pool, so weren’t disappointed by the swarm of little bodies! Each family seemed happy and the children relatively well-behaved, but multiply that by ten and the visit became a disappointment.

To help you out, I’ve posted a link to the Queensland school holidays, so you don’t make the same mistake!
