We visited the United Arab Emirates for only a short time – 3 full days and 4 nights – in late September, 2023. Why in September, which is still in the hot season? Because the United Arab Emirates were our first stop in a 5 country, around-the-world trip, and the fall season worked best for all of the other countries!
We figured we could beat the heat indoors in air-conditioning, and enjoy many special sights in the late afternoon. We actually did so much more than I expected. With a day trip to Abu Dhabi, and two full days in Dubai we saw the old and the new mind-blowing sides of the Emirates.
Greg and I took a quick but intense day trip to Abu Dhabi from Dubai. From the Qasr Al Watan Presidential Palace, to the top of one of the Etihad Towers, to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque we enjoyed an in-depth view of the color and best architecture Abu Dhabi has
From the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, to a Dhow Dinner Cruise, we saw Dubai at day and night, from old to new. I was actually glad to be there at the end of the hot season, as the crowds were thinner, and the evening air “fresh”.

With my husband Greg, I have been on safari to Africa, wandered among the blue boobies in the Galapagos, slogged through jungle mud in Laos, and he has even chased an ocelot in Costa Rica (with his camera!) Our travel has taken careful planning, and constant attention to what is most important. I want to give you the inspiration and travel tips to enable you also to look beyond your own personal challenges, to not hide behind those words “I could never” and to see the world. |
