We visited Cambodia in December 2017, as a part of our 65-day Odyssey of Southeast Asia. We arrived in Phnom Phenh via speedboat from Chau Doc, Vietnam, then traveled to Oudong Mountain, Battambang, Siem Reap and Preah Vihear, spending thirteen days in this amazing country.
It can be a somewhat concerning country to visit as a diabetic – hospitals and healthcare is poor, and there are diseases to be aware of. I planned our trip to coincide with the dry season to limit these risks, and was very careful about the foods I ate.
After all, I wanted to experience all of Cambodia, not just a few days and have to high-tail it to Bangkok! I learned during our Southeast Asia trip that Bangkok is the jewel of Southeast Asia as far as healthcare is concerned.
But taking precautions didn’t diminish the wonder of the country and my happiness at having had the opportunity to visit it.
