A Diabetic Travel Blog
I hope you enjoy my Vietnam travel blog (even if you aren’t diabetic!) I offer tips for diabetic travel which can be valuable for people without diabetes as well. Safe and healthy travel is great for all of us!
We visited Vietnam in Dec 2017 as a part of our 65-day Southeast Asia Odyssey. We began in Ho Chi Minh City and made our way northeast on a private cruise on the Mekong River with “Mekong Eyes”. The boat stopped at Cai Be and Chau Doc, and ultimately we reached Cambodia by speedboat.
Then, because we loved it so much, and were so sorry to have missed the mountains of the north, in 2023 we included Hanoi and several nearby locations in our ‘Round-the-World’ trip. We stayed in Hanoi and Ninh Binh, and took a short cruise on Halong Bay.
Oh, but I want to return and go south to Huë, Da Nang and Hoi An. The monsoon season was in full swing for that region in October in 2023, so we skipped on by to Seoul, South Korea. But I researched them and really, really want to go there.

A marvelous day with Les Rives in the Mekong Delta near Ho Chi Minh City (reviews)
The day trip to the Mekong Delta was extraordinary and in fact was more informative, more varietous and simply more stunning than our three day cruise! We actually spent as much time off the boat, exploring villages and country lanes, as we did in the boat viewing all kinds of extraordinary water vessels and life along the edge.

Two separate river experiences: a one-day speedboat trip with Les Rives, and a 4-day Mekong River private cruise from the Delta up to Cambodia, with Mekong Eyes.
