The Best Beachfront Condo in Isabela, in all of Puerto Rico!

Extraordinary Beachfront Luxury Penthouse Near Jobos Beach!

Yes!  In May 2018, we bought a penthouse beachfront condo in the northwest corner of Puerto Rico, in Isabela.  It is the best place to stay in Puerto Rico.  We know, because we took a long trip around the entire island in 2015, looking for the place to be.  It’s called Haudimar Beach Apartments and it is located just west of Jobos Beach, and east of Shacks Beach.

In 2015, we traveled from Luquillo, Fajardo, Yacuboa, Manuabo, Guayama, Ponce, Guanica, Cabo Roco, San German, Mayaguez, Rincon, Aguadilla, Isabela, Guajataca, Arecibo, Caguas, to Old San Juan.  You can see my favorite things to do and places to see by checking out my Top 10.  Click Here.   We traveled the island in search of our new home.

We’ll be staying here on our beachfront terrace from December to May, to escape the cold Northeast winters.  I used to take this opportunity to advertise our Airbnb here, but we’ve fixed it up so nicely that we don’t want renters in anymore!  So, you can see it only as our guests in the winter.

It’s just 10 minutes from BQN (Borinquen) airport in Aguadilla, and two hours from SJU (San Juan) airport.

We never intended to buy such a big place, but at the top of our list of must haves were beachfront/sea views, and unbeknownst to me (but known to Greg!), room for a full-sized pool table.  We also renovated the kitchen, adding a dishwasher in the process, renovated the master bathroom, and redecorated the entire unit.

“Why Puerto Rico?” our friends ask.

The answer is a little unexpected: “The water!”

“The swimming?  The snorkeling?”

“No, the drinking!”

Puerto Rico is unique in the Caribbean and Central America in that it has potable water, right out of the faucet, to the same standards as we have in Rhode Island.  When we vacationed in Puerto Rico I drank the water throughout and never got sick.  Greg is seldom affected by the water in the places we visit.  Granted, he doesn’t actually DRINK the water where it is not potable, but he doesn’t get sick from the tiny bits that can catch you – the little drop on the fresh vegetables, the little germ on the edge of the snorkel mask.  However, I get sick at the drop of a hat, that is, a drop of water.

I am very excited to be spending winters in such a beautiful tropical location, and be able to safely eat the lettuce on the sandwiches!

Puerto Rico is wonderfully varietous.  Old forts, zip-lining, mountains, caves, beach, water sports, great food.  Check out my article about things to do from Isabela.

Did I also not say?  In Puerto Rico, Norteamericanos and Boricuas (Puerto Ricans), we are all US citizens!

As an added bonus, one of our recent guests liked it so much, he created and posted a video of it on Instagram!
