In 2016 we visited Portugal for nine days – a couple of days in Lisbon, several day trips out of Lisbon, and then a three night trip to historic villages of central Portugal. What an amazing trip through a history we had never known.
We visited villages named Idanha-a-Velha, Monsanto, Sortelho, Castel Rodrigo, Guarda, Almeida, Trancoso, Pinhel, and finally the UNESCO World Heritage Site Evora. We saw Visigoth Churches, Roman roads, Napoleonic-era forts, the sad remains of a Jewish community which tried to escape from the Inquisition, the halls of the Inquisition in Evora. We encountered wonders around every corner. MyWayTours and the lovely Carla Carita brought us everywhere.
