Our visit to Germany was quick – we drove from Cesky Krumlov, in the South Bohemia section of the Czech Republic to Munich via Passau, and checked out the Munich historic downtown area.
Then we took a day trip to Zugspitze which is a ski area very near the Austrian border. It is also the highest mountain in Germany and there’s a fantastic viewpoint from just below the peak. You have to take a cog railway up (through a long tunnel.) We wanted to take the very steep cable car down, but it wasn’t running that day, so we only got to cable-car a short distance from the cog railway terminus to the peak, and back.
Then we took a day trip by rail to Nurnberg, seeing the historic old town area, the Nurnberg Trial Court and the former Nazi Rally Grounds.
We loved Bavaria but found it very expensive. I guess that’s the risk you take when planning an itinerary from the least inexpensive countries to the most – the food doesn’t get any better, the prices just get higher and higher!
Enjoy!
Wonderful ! Wendy, I discovered it this morning from my phone. I can hardly wait to watch the video with Dave on a larger screen. An area I know so well. Photos were excellent and the music at all times appropriate.
