During our 2023 ’round-the-world trip, we traveled from Delhi, India to Hanoi, Vietnam. We stayed in Hanoi a day and a half, then a tropical storm swirled in and disturbed all our plans. Instead of the Halong Bay cruise, to be followed by several nights in Ninh Binh, we headed directly off to Ninh Binh, then back to Halong Bay, and with a final day once again in Hanoi.
There is lot to see in the old town of Hanoi. Do not miss the Train Street! It really is an amazing experience as the train thunders along inches from your face. Even though some sources said that the street was no longer open for tourists, we found it quite open. That was a well spent Diet Coke!
Why all the pictures in the videos of the beautiful, well-dressed women? We happened to arrive on “Women’s Day”, a day of national celebration in which groups of woman dress up in whatever suits them and their budgets. They go to iconic locations with their paid photographers to get their pictures taken. At the Citadel one group allowed us to take their picture, and join them for another!
