Bangkok Show (video)

The first stop on our 63-day Southeast Asian odyssey – the great city of Bangkok.  We visited Wat Arun, the Grand Palace, Wat Phrae Kaew, the Khlongs (Canals) in a “long-boat”, Wat Pho, Wat Benchamabophit, the Jim Thompson House, Chatachuk Weekend Market, Wat Traimit, Chinatown, all with the aid of Orange Flag boats, tuk-tuks, and BTS (skytrains).

Staying at Sala Rattanakosin, in the old city, was the BEST decision we made.  Even if your budget doesn’t stretch to Sala Rattanakosin, we saw other hotels and hostels in the soi (alleys) nearby.    Don’t let the workaday nature of the neighborhood deter you – it was a fantastic collage of sights, sounds, and smells, and felt truly and safely Thai.
