Where am I now? August 2018

Right now, I am sitting in the living room of our harbor-view townhouse in Newport, Rhode Island, USA.  It’s in the mid-eighties (Fahrenheit) and the humidity is high.  The fan is whirring, the sea breezes are blowing through the living room window to the patio sliders in the back.  The view through the patio doors is to the sailboats in the harbor below.

Soon we will be off on our 33 day trip to Eastern and Central Europe: Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany.  It would have been a longer vacation, however the big lesson learned from the sixty-three day trip to Southeast Asia last winter was that twice as long does not necessarily mean three times as wonderful, as I have to focus a lot on energy on maintaining the refrigeration of my insulin during the first month.  I decided that month-long trips are ideal – see a lot, feel fresher as I wander, save on airfare over two week vacations, and worry less!
