Wendy Kirkwood Powers – she’s all over Scotland!

Last Updated on March 17, 2023 by PowersToTravel

I’m retired now and I’m doing what I please, when I please.

This morning that meant I Googled myself, and I found I was all over.  Of course, because there are Wendy’s Restaurants all over, I kept bumping into the Wendy’s in Kirkwood NY, Kirkwood MO, it just went on and on.

But then I started to bump into credits to my pictures.  That was exciting.  A number of years ago I submitted quite a number of pictures of Scotland to a project called Geograph.    It was a fun project:   The user was requested to submit pictures of  the British Isles, one little GPS square at a time.  Since I had been to Scotland about fifteen times at that point, I do have a lot of pictures.

I submitted some, that is 63 pictures, then got discouraged because a person received a First Geograph point if they were the first to submit a picture to a square.  But after that, tens and hundreds of pictures were submitted for each square.  I don’t like to be in a big crowd.   So, I had the thrill of being first “geograph” for only one square, on the Isle of Arran, but soon moved on to other endeavors.

All pictures submitted became licensed under Creative Commons, which meant that others could use them, as long as they credit the photographer.  Et voila, I am on the Internet!

Click on my pictures below to see how other people used them.  The most interesting were 1066 – a Medieval Mosaic and Factory Worker Media – Recognizing dark creatives and their communities.

  1. Very nice pictures! They’re a credit to you and indicate that your other pictures for other locations can be trusted to reflect what’s really there. We’ve been to Scotland, but you make it seem worth another trip by getting out into the countryside.
